To continue celebrating Jason’s birthday, we went out with a group of friends to Uncle Frank’s BBQ, located in Mountain View. It’s supposed to be one of the best BBQ place in the area. It was originally located in East Palo Alto, only moving to Mountain View early this year.

We order two combo meals, for a group of nine. We got brisket, pork ribs, roasted chicken, with both spicy and mild sauces on the side. We also got to try most of their side dishes: hush puppies, cajun corn, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, and corn bread.

The meat was definitely why we were there, and we weren’t disappointed. Meat on the ribs just fell right off, that 30 hour cook must’ve done something right. It was so tender, with a great smoky flavor. The spicy sauce on the side was great, though the spiciness did build up in my mouth and I had to switch to the mild sauce, which was a bit sweeter. The mild sauce was actually spicy too, but it didn’t stay in the mouth long. Brisket was really good too. Just as tender and juicy as the ribs. I didn’t get to try the chicken, but the skin looked really crispy.

Out of all the side dishes, I liked cajun corn the best. It had a great kick to it. Baked beans was too sweet, and the potato salad and cole slaw were nothing special. Jason was looking forward to the hush puppies, and was very disappointed. It had kernels of corn in it, which he didn’t expect. Plus we all agreed they were too dry.

We also had peach cobbler as dessert. I didn’t like it very much, too sweet. The sweetness really covered up the peach flavor. It tasted more like canned peaches instead of fresh peaches. That was a big disappointment for me. Hopefully their sweet potato pie is better. That’s for next time.

I didn’t get to take much pictures. Only got the meat, and the peach cobbler, which, we all know, were the important things.
